Scope and Content of the Louis M. Nunn Papers

The Louis M. Nunn papers,1956-1975, contain programs, invitations, newspaper clippings, reports, rosters, resolutions, certificates, and correspondence.


History of Louis M. Nunn

Louie Matthew Nunn was a Savannah alderman, school board member and union official. He was a native of Mitchell and lived in Savannah. He worked as a business manager for the Carpenter's Union for 31 years. He served as a Savannah city alderman from 1962-1964. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union No. 256, Alee Temple Shrine, the Bacon Park Senior Blitz and a Mason. He was a former member of Board of Public Education and had served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple and the Learners Sunday School Class. He was a past president of the Building Trades Council and was a lieutenant colonel, Aide De Camp on the governor's staff during the administration of S. Ernest Vandiver in 1959.
