Scope and Content of the Collection

The collections of Ray Stepp, 1965-1976, are composed of correspondence which reveals the intended and later merging of North and South Carolina Pipe Trades Association with the Tennessee Pipe Trades Association. Included in the material are financial and legal documents, primarily consisting of insurance receipts, tax audit and Social Security earnings of Ray Stepp. There is a report about the Alaskan Pipeline in regard to union men not in Alaska's Locals.


History of Ray Stepp

Ray Stepp served at various times as business agent and manager, financial secretary-treasurer and president of the United Association of Journeymen Plumbers and Steam Fitters, Local 487 of Asheville, NC.
