Francis (Frank) Quigley Vogtner (1922-2010) was an Eastern Air Lines pilot. Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, he graduated from Spring Hill College and received a masters degree from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Zietz) Vogtner, had ten children. A pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, Vogtner moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1956 to pursue his career with Eastern Air Lines. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Eastern Airlines was one of the "Big Four" airlines that dominated the passenger airline business in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. Eastern declared bankruptcy in 1989 and ceased operations in 1991.
