Scope and Content of the Collection

The collection consists of 186 agreements, 1938-1970, between various local unions of the Furniture Workers of America and manufacturing or other entities.


Historical Note about the International Woodworkers of America

The International Woodworkers of America (IWA) was formed by former affiliates of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America in 1937. An affiliate of the Congress of Industrial Organizations, the IWA remained an independent entity until 1994, when it merged into the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
