Lodge No.8 (Macon, Georgia) Records, 1901-1978, consist of bound ledgers
recording expenses, receipt of union dues, and other income. Also included are
financial ledgers from two other Macon IAM lodges (locals 842 and 918) that
merged into Lodge 8.
Scope and Content of the Records
The Records, 1901-1978, of International Association of Machinists,
Lodge No.8 (Macon, Georgia) consist of bound ledgers recording expenses,
receipt of union dues, and other income. Also included are a few financial
ledgers from IAM Locals 842 and 918, two other Macon lodges that merged into
The United Machinists and Mechanical Engineers of America was founded
in 1888. In 1889, the name was changed to National Association of Machinists.
Two years later, it became known as the International Association of Machinists
and in 1965, this was changed to the International Association of Machinists
and Aerospace Workers.
