Scope and Content of the Records
The Records, 1888-1957, of the International Association of Machinists Lodge 10 (Richmond, VA), consist primarily of financial documents and minute books. The financial documents consist of dues ledgers, 1888-1956, cash books, 1902-1956, and audit reports, 1913-1938. The minute books describe the activities of Lodge 10 from 1891 to 1957. The remainder of the collection consists of a small amount of correspondence, 1900-1947, and printed material, 1902-1956, that relate to I.A.M. activities at both the local and national levels.
Historical Note
The United Machinists and Mechanical Engineers of America was founded in 1888. In 1889, the name was changed to National Association of Machinists. Two years later, it became known as the International Association of Machinists.
