Description | Al-Islam, The Islamic Movement Journal was the publication of the Islamic Party in North America (based in Washington, D.C.), 1971-1978. "Al-Islam, as a grassroots 'alternative press' publication, was produced by a non-professional volunteer staff who did not always follow standard editorial and publishing practices. The staff deliberately avoided printing a copyright notice in Al-Islam in order to allow others to freely use the contents of the publication with only a statement of attribution. Intellectual property rights, if they had any merit at all, were less important than disseminating a message." - Ibrahim Hanif, who was editor of Al-Islam, director of Islamic Party Publications, and a member of IPNA's executive body, the Guidance Council. |
