Finding aids are detailed inventories prepared for manuscript collections. They include background information about archival collections, such as the creator of the collection; the date range of the collection; historical information about the collection; and the scope of the collection. Finding aids also provide brief box, folder and sometimes item level descriptions of the materials that comprise collections.
