Photographs in the Planning Atlanta collection illustrate many planning activities, ideas, and events that are depicted, described, discussed, and written about in many of the Planning Atlanta maps, publications, and oral histories. These photographs are included in this collection, in part, because they allow users of the Planning Atlanta collection to view actual images of planning activities that appear in abstract form in both the planning maps and publications.
With funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the photographs in the Planning Atlanta collection have been selected from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Photographic Archive, Lane Brothers Photographs Collection, and the Tom Coffin Photographs Collection. To provide additional contextual information about this diverse collection, a number of Atlanta Journal and Atlanta Constitution photographs include the associated newspaper article in which the photograph originally appeared.
